FAQs on SIR 2026: Important Information Every Voter Should Know

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has started the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls from June 25, 2026. The aim is to make sure all eligible citizens are included in the voter list and ineligible names are removed. The final voter list will be published on October 1, 2026.

What is SIR?

SIR is a special drive by the Election Commission to update and clean voter lists. It helps remove duplicate entries, names of deceased voters, and ensures only eligible citizens remain on the electoral roll.

Important Dates

  • June 25 – July 24, 2026: House-to-house survey by Booth Level Officers (BLOs)

  • July 31, 2026: Draft voter list published

  • July 31 – August 30, 2026: Claims and objections period

  • October 1, 2026: Final voter list published

How Will Voters Receive the Enumeration Form?

BLOs will visit every household at least three times and provide the Enumeration Form. After filling it, voters should return one copy to the BLO and keep the acknowledged copy safely.

What If I Don’t Receive the Form?

You can contact your local BLO through the CEO Telangana website, Voter Helpline, or the ECINET App. An adult family member can also receive and submit the form on your behalf.

What If I Need Help Filling the Form?

The BLO will guide you while filling the form. Additional help will also be provided during follow-up visits.

How Can I Check If My Name Is on the Voter List?

Visit the voter portal or CEO Telangana website and use the voter search option. Printed voter lists are also available with local BLOs.

What If My Name Is Missing?

If your name is not found despite voting earlier, provide details of your parents or grandparents in the Enumeration Form. The BLO will help verify the information.

Can I Change My Address?

Yes. After the draft voter list is published on July 31, you can apply for address correction using Form 8.

What If I Am Not Home During the BLO Visit?

An adult family member can fill and submit the form on your behalf. BLOs will visit up to three times before the deadline.

Can I Correct Mistakes in the Form?

Yes. Make corrections clearly on the same form before submitting it. A new form will not be issued.

Is Aadhaar Number Mandatory?

No. Providing your Aadhaar number is completely optional.

What If My Photo Is Old or Incorrect?

Attach a recent passport-size photograph in the space provided on the form.

Can New Voters Apply?

Yes. Anyone who is already 18 years old or will turn 18 on or before October 1, 2026, can apply using Form 6.

Is Online Submission Available?

Yes. Eligible voters can fill and submit the Enumeration Form online through the voter portal.

What If My Family Is Out of Station?

You can complete the process online without being physically present at your residence.

What Happens If I Do Not Submit the Form?

Your name may be excluded from the draft voter list. The BLO will conduct a local inquiry and may classify the voter as shifted, absent, deceased, or duplicate.

Are Documents Required?

No documents are needed during the initial survey phase. However, if the Electoral Registration Officer seeks clarification later, supporting documents may be requested.

What If a Family Member Lives Abroad or in Another City?

An adult family member at home can fill and submit the form on their behalf during the survey process.

For any assistance, voters can call the Election Commission’s toll-free helpline 1950 or contact their local Booth Level Officer.
