Mohammad Azharuddin’s Oath Ceremony Date Finalized

Hyderabad, Oct 30 (HRV-NEWS24): The Telangana government has finalized the schedule for the state cabinet expansion, with the swearing-in ceremony set for tomorrow (Friday) at 12:15 p.m.

Senior Congress leader and former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin will take oath as a cabinet minister at Raj Bhavan. Ahead of the event, protocol officials have completed inspections at the Raj Bhavan Durbar Hall, reviewing seating arrangements and other formalities for the ceremony.

This marks the first cabinet expansion since Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and 11 ministers took oath nearly 22 months ago. Later, three additional ministers were inducted, bringing the current strength of the cabinet to 15 members.

The Congress high command, which has been deliberating on filling the remaining three cabinet positions, has reportedly decided to include a representative from the minority community. In this regard, Azharuddin’s name has been finalized, and he is likely to be assigned the Home and Minority Welfare portfolios, sources said.

Further clarity is awaited on when the leadership will fill the two remaining cabinet vacancies.

TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar earlier confirmed that Azharuddin’s inclusion is part of the party’s commitment to minority representation in the cabinet.
